Inside Out

The essence of summer luxury is a home that facilitates easy indoor outdoor living by blurring the edges between indoors and out.

Tenfiftyfive is an Australian practice that creates intelligent, real family homes with elegant spaces that effortlessly merge interiors with garden terraces to enhance the lifestyles of their owners.

Here are three stunning examples of their recent work.

The Summer House – a glass pavilion inserted into the garden with a double sided fireplace in a stone pillar makes you feel as if you are sitting in the outdoors. The expansive roof reaches across the terrace, giving all-weather choices for entertaining.

The Park House. The design brief was to build a robust family home that would be environmentally responsible. There was a strong emphasis placed on the house’s ability to entertain groups as small as the family alone or as large as a good sized party. They wanted the house to be able to open up and close down depending on the number of people using the space. Images Christine Francis

The kitchen connects directly to the exterior across a timber bench.

The Martin House – a wood, glass and steel addition to an old heritage home in Melbourne. Floor to ceiling steel glass doors draw back opening the living to a terrace with a backdrop of a beautifully landscaped pool and garden. Images Christine Francis
